The Manda airstrip is a small regional airport which handles domestic flights and private travel. The airport does not handle international flights which need to clear through customs either in Nairobi ( Jomo Kenyatta), Mombasa, or Malindi before flying into Lamu as a domestic flight.

The Manda airstrip is a class III airport with operating hours between 6am and 6pm. The main runway, 16/34, is 1 kilometer long and 15 meters wide with bitumen surface and has an overrun of 600 meters compact murram. This runway is PCN 8 and the largest aircrafts it can accommodate are ATR 42, Dash 7 & 8, SAAB 340, CITATION, Challenger II, L410, Twin Otter, and King Air.
